Wyatt’s Take

  • Three lives lost in overnight Chicago gun violence.
  • No suspects in custody as police search for answers.
  • Trump threats to send federal lawmen into cities facing crime waves.

Three separate shootings in Chicago overnight claimed three lives, as violence continues to plague the city. In the first shooting, two 38-year-old men standing outside were killed when someone approached and opened fire on them.

Both victims were rushed to the hospital but did not survive their injuries.

Less than an hour later, a 27-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were shot several times on the street. The man survived, but the woman died at the hospital.

“Everybody’s safe now, everybody feels safe. It’s our capital, and I guess it used to be many years ago, say, but it’s certainly not had a very good run. And you’ve got to be strong. You’ve got to be tough. You’ve got to do your job,” President Trump said during a visit to Washington, D.C.

Chicago authorities have not yet identified the victims, and no arrests have been made in connection with these attacks.

During his visit, President Trump discussed sending more federal law enforcement to cities suffering from rising crime. “We’re going to make it safe, and we’re going to then go on to other places, but we’re going to stay here for a while. We want to make this absolutely perfect,” Trump stated.
