  • The case involves possible suspicious circumstances in park housing.
  • Multiple agencies are working to get to the bottom of it.

Federal agencies are digging into the death of a woman found seriously hurt at Yosemite National Park last week. She was found on March 20 inside employee housing and later died at a hospital.

The woman, 34, lived in Fresno and worked for Yosemite Hospitality. Rangers were called to the scene for a medical emergency and discovered her injuries were severe.

“NPS is investigating the death of a woman who was found injured March 20 at concessioner housing in Yosemite Valley,” a spokesperson said.

After being taken to a local hospital, she passed away the next day, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

The situation is being treated with caution, as park rangers and local officials say it may be suspicious, but no definitive evidence of foul play has surfaced yet.

“We at the Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the investigation to see if it is indeed suspicious,” Tony Botti said. “Nothing lends itself to that at this point.”

The investigation is a joint effort by the National Park Service, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and the county sheriff’s office.

Authorities are still searching for answers as the local community watches for updates.
