Wyatt’s Take

  • Court declares Trump can slash USAID spending.
  • Judges uphold president’s power over how tax dollars are spent.
  • Liberal lawsuits can’t block moves to cut wasteful overseas programs.

The D.C. Circuit Court ruled President Trump had the right to stop billions from flowing to USAID’s overseas projects. This decision blocks activists from suing to force the government to keep funding programs most Americans never voted for.

After Trump’s order to freeze USAID spending, judges tried to limit his powers over how to spend your tax dollars. The court reversed those efforts, shutting down attempts to use lawsuits to keep the spending going.

Circuit Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson wrote, “They may not bring a freestanding constitutional claim if the underlying alleged violation and claimed authority are statutory.”

The ruling means future presidents have the clear authority to cut programs like foreign propaganda shows and questionable overseas aid, instead of wasting money abroad. The court also made it tougher for federal grantees to file junk lawsuits over losing their funding.

Attempts to slow down Trump’s plans even failed earlier this year, when a lower court sided with the administration’s decision to remove USAID employees.

Big government groups that relied on taxpayer cash won’t get to ride the gravy train unchecked anymore. The court just put real power back with the people who earned those dollars.
