January 1, Derek Dooley Enters Georgia Senate Race Shaking Politics

Derek Dooley, a well-known football coach and son of legendary coach Vince Dooley, is stepping into the political arena as a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate from Georgia in 2026. He’s got some strong backing from Georgia’s Republican Governor, Brian Kemp, who decided not to run for the Senate himself.
Dooley’s career started in law—he got his degree from the University of Georgia—before he moved into coaching football at places like Tennessee and with the Dallas Cowboys. Now, he wants to serve the people of Georgia in Washington, D.C.
In his campaign announcement, Dooley emphasized the importance of having someone in D.C. who delivers on their promises, highlighting former President Trump’s ability to turn campaign ideas into real results. Dooley believes that’s what Georgians want: someone who talks straight and gets things done.
He also pointed out problems with current politicians like Jon Ossoff, pointing to issues like open borders, rampant inflation, and what he describes as “woke” agendas. According to Dooley, these are reasons why Georgia needs new leadership.
Dooley will be competing against Congressman Mike Collins for the Republican nomination. Collins has notable endorsements, including one from Newt Gingrich.
Some folks are raising concerns about Ossoff’s recent actions. A watchdog group filed a complaint against him, saying he might have broken Senate rules by linking his official actions to requests for campaign money in an email. Ossoff’s email talked about how he’d vote against a bill and then asked for campaign donations, which some say goes against Senate ethics.
Additionally, Ossoff has made controversial votes recently, like opposing arms sales to Israel, which has upset many who support Israel strongly. He criticized the Israeli government, blaming it rather than groups like Hamas for problems in Gaza, which didn’t sit well with many supporters of Israel.
Derek Dooley’s entry into the race could shake things up in Georgia politics. He’s betting that his straightforward approach and focus on results will win over voters looking for change.
Wyatt Matters!
Derek Dooley is stepping up from coaching to politics, and he’s ready to bring a fresh voice to Georgia. Known for his straight talk, Derek wants to change how things are done in Washington, D.C. He believes that what people need is not just promises but actual results, much like when former President Trump turned plans into action. Derek sees this as what Georgians are looking for: honesty and effectiveness in leadership.
Derek has pointed out some concerns with current leaders like Jon Ossoff. Issues such as open borders and inflation are making lives harder for Georgians, and Derek feels that a new direction is necessary. He also has serious concerns about what he calls “woke” agendas, which he believes are not in line with the values and needs of Georgia residents. With these issues in mind, Derek is running to offer strong leadership that focuses on practical solutions.
The race for the Senate seat won’t be easy, as Derek will be facing off against Congressman Mike Collins, who has significant supporters like Newt Gingrich. However, Derek is confident that his background in law and football has prepared him for this challenge. He is determined to make changes that reflect the values of Georgians, all while staying true to delivering what he promises.
