Pope Francis has been in the hospital for over two weeks now, and because of this, he won’t be able to go to the Ash Wednesday service next week. This special service was supposed to mark the start of Lent, happening at the Basilicas of Saint Anselm and Santa Sabina.
The folks at the Vatican told us that the Pope’s health is slowly getting better, but his doctors are keeping things private. We do know that he’s been working from his hospital bed, which is pretty impressive.
At one point, doctors said his health was “critical.” Last Saturday, things got even worse, but thanks to some blood transfusions he had on Sunday, he’s doing a lot better now. In fact, it seemed like he was getting much sicker, but those transfusions really helped him turn a corner.
The Vatican’s given a statement saying his health is improving, but they’re not sharing too much because of how complicated his condition is. He’s getting lots of special treatments, like high-flow oxygen and physiotherapy, which shows he’s doing a lot better.
Pope Francis went to the hospital on February 14 for something called bronchitis. Then they found he had double pneumonia, which is no small thing. This has been the longest time he’s ever spent in the hospital since he became Pope.
Let’s keep him in our thoughts and hope for his speedy recovery. The world needs strong leaders who can guide us through tough times.
Wyatt Matters!
It’s hard to hear that Pope Francis has been in the hospital for so long, but it’s comforting to know that he’s getting better, even if it’s slowly. Missing the Ash Wednesday service is a big deal because it starts the special time of Lent, which is important to many people. It’s good to know that the Pope is still trying to do work from his hospital bed. That shows how dedicated he is.
Doctors have been careful about what they share, but it’s clear that the Pope has had quite a battle with his health. It was really concerning when things got worse last Saturday, but the blood transfusions on Sunday seemed to help him a lot. It must have been scary for everyone, but it sounds like he’s now getting the right treatments to help him recover.
Let’s all think good thoughts and hope for Pope Francis to get better soon. It’s important to have leaders who can help guide us, and right now, the world needs wise and strong people like him. His health journey shows us how important it is to have hope and to keep pushing through tough times.
