January 1, Youngkin Vetoes Bill That Could Jail Pro-Lifers for Carrying Signs

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin just made an important decision, standing up for free speech and protecting the rights of peaceful pro-life Americans. On Tuesday, he vetoed a bill backed by Democrats that would have made life harder for those who stand outside abortion facilities to share their views and offer help to women.
The bill was set up to punish folks who simply might be standing in the way or holding a sign near these facilities. But Governor Youngkin saw right through it. He called it an overreach that would mess with our God-given right to free speech.
Imagine being thrown in jail just for holding a sign or trying to talk to someone! That’s what could have happened here in Virginia if this became law. SB 1324 was about keeping people from speaking their mind, especially pro-life folks who want to help and counsel expecting mothers. These sidewalk counselors gather peacefully, hoping to save lives and offer support.
The Democrats tried to push this through with a sharp focus on making sure pro-life voices are hushed. But Youngkin wasn’t having any of it. Groups like the Family Foundation in Virginia are relieved, knowing this veto protects their right to free speech.
They’re worried because this bill looked a lot like the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. That law has been used to unfairly target peaceful pro-life protesters during the Biden administration. Remember, President Trump took a different path, making sure pro-life folks weren’t harassed just for standing up for their beliefs.
On the same day, Governor Youngkin also vetoed other Democrat-backed bills, including ones that would have put more restrictions on guns, pushed expensive green energy ideas, and opened the door wider to recreational marijuana.
Governor Youngkin’s actions show he stands tall for our freedoms and values, making sure Virginia stays a place where free speech is respected.
Wyatt Matters!
Governor Youngkin made a brave choice by stopping a new law that could have taken away free speech rights from people who stand outside clinics to share their pro-life views. The proposed bill might have punished those who hold signs or peacefully talk to women near these facilities. It’s important for everyone to be able to speak their mind and support others without the fear of being thrown in jail simply for expressing their beliefs.
By vetoing this bill, he protected the rights of those who want to peacefully offer help and counsel to expecting mothers. These people gather outside not to cause trouble, but to share their message and support the women who might need it. If the law had passed, it would have unfairly silenced pro-life voices, just like how the federal FACE Act has been used against peaceful protesters.
Governor Youngkin’s actions remind us how important it is to uphold the freedom to express our beliefs here in Virginia. Besides stopping this one bill, he also vetoed other proposals that could have restricted our rights in different ways. It’s good to see leaders standing up for our freedom to speak and share ideas, making sure that everyone has the chance to be heard.

Thank you, Governor Youngkin, for standing up on America’s ideals that this country was founded upon. Just wish there were more people like you to stand up and be counted defending truth, justice and morality. God Bless

To stifle free speech is the road to dictatorship. The easiest way to prevent unwanted pregnancy is to simply keep your legs closed. (Yes, there are other causes that are unacceptable, I’m neither ignorant of it or blind to it). Try having morals instead of an anything goes approach.

That would subvert the Constitution of the United States and they would never get away with it. It would be protected under the First Amendment and Free Speech.

†Pro-Life (victory) vs. Abortion (defeat) the evil religion of sacrificing infants to the demon Molech 1 Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! 2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. 3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. Luke 17:1-3

Hurray for Gov. Youngkin. But does their congress have the vote to override his veto or does it work that way there? I certainly hope not.
