What we know is that A 20-year-old woman named Kaylin Gillis was shot dead by a 65-year-old homeowner in upstate New York after the car she was riding in mistakenly turned into the wrong driveway while searching for a friend’s house. The owner of the home, Kevin Monahan, allegedly fired two shots at the vehicle as it was leaving, and one of the bullets hit Gillis. Monahan was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The victim’s family and friends expressed shock and sadness over the tragic incident, with many lamenting the senselessness of the shooting.

It’s a tragic story out of upstate New York that has left a young woman dead and a family devastated. According to reports, 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis was in a car with three friends when they made a wrong turn and ended up in the driveway of a man named Kevin Monahan. Monahan, who is 65 years old, allegedly fired two shots from his patio at the car as it was leaving, striking Gillis and causing her death.

This is a terrible situation all around. It’s heartbreaking to think about the pain that Gillis’ family must be feeling right now. A young woman with her whole life ahead of her has been taken too soon, and for what? A simple mistake that anyone could have made.

It’s also hard to understand what was going through Monahan’s mind when he decided to open fire on the car. There was no interaction between him and the group of friends, and they never even got out of the car. It seems like a completely unnecessary and senseless act of violence.

As a man who believes in individual freedom and responsibility, I believe that gun ownership is a right that should be protected. But with that right comes a responsibility to use firearms safely and responsibly. It’s clear that Monahan did not do that in this situation, and now a young woman has lost her life as a result.

It’s important to remember that incidents like this are not representative of gun owners as a whole. The vast majority of gun owners are responsible and use their firearms for hunting, sport, and self-defense. But tragedies like this one serve as a reminder of the importance of responsible gun ownership.

My heart goes out to Kaylin Gillis’ family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that justice will be served for her senseless death, and that we can all work towards a future where tragedies like this one are a thing of the past.
