Woman Arrested For Not Scanning All Items at Walmart Self-Checkout
A Michigan woman is being accused of stealing merchandise from Walmart by failing to scan all of her items at the store’s self-checkout.
Police said that workers from the loss prevention department at a Walmart in Alpena County noticed that TeddyJo Marie Fliam, 34, wasn’t scanning every item. When loss prevention workers confronted Fliam, she became agitated, denied the allegation, and left the store, according to Fox News.
The incident prompted store employees to review surveillance footage. The footage allegedly showed that Fliam had stolen more than $1,000 worth of Walmart merchandise since April by neglecting to scan all of her items at the self-checkout.
Police arrested Fliam at her home and charged her with first-degree retail fraud.
In 2019, Walmart implemented a system to mitigate self-checkout thefts known as Missed Scan Detection, using cameras and artificial intelligence to ensure that every bagged item has been scanned.
“Walmart is making a true investment to ensure the safety of our customers and associates,” a spokesperson said at the time. “Over the last three years, the company has invested over half a billion dollars in an effort to prevent, reduce and deter crime in our stores and parking lots. We are continuously investing in people, programs and technology to keep our stores and communities safe.”

Can’t imagine this WHITE female being charged with this crime, because, if she was black, not a single thing would be done…..
I believe it is called BLACK PRIVILEGE. It’s wrong for anyone to do this, but, the hypocrisy is disgusting, when it comes to blacks getting away with anything & everything…….
She must have been a Democrat who thought she was entitled to more for her money.
Look at it this way. The store had to make an example of someone. In today’s social climate whom would you rather deal with, an illegal, a black or middle age white woman?
“…We are continuously investing in people, programs and technology to keep our stores and communities safe.”; So says a Wal-Mart spokesperson. I’ll buy into part of of the spokesperson’s statement. Wal-mart has invested in programs and technology but they have neglected people. Just think of the thousands of people who have been replaced by these ‘programs and technology’.
I have made it my policy to refuse to use the self check-outs and will continue to do so.
IF, – YOU WANT TO BE STUPID LIKE THAT WOMAN WAS…….WELL – YOU WILL GET CAUGHT AND THEN WILL HAVE TO PAY THE PRICE. !!
SHE SHOULD HAVE PAID THE PRICE ON THE ITEMS – BUT, NOW PAYING THE PRICE IN JAIL……. SHE BELONGS TO MY GROUP THAT I CALL THE DUMB ADULTS OF THIS COUNTRY………..AND – MAN, DO WE HAVE A LOT OF THOSE RUNNING AROUND…..TOTALLY STUPID ADULTS. !!!
