Kamala Harris is back in the spotlight, and she’s picked her company carefully. The failed 2024 presidential candidate sat down with former soccer player and political activist Megan Rapinoe for a friendly chat that avoided any difficult questions.

The Thursday interview on “Why Are You Like This?” featured hard-hitting journalism like Rapinoe asking Harris, “Why are you so amazing?”

“You could do anything, you’re brilliant, and you’re talented, and you’re beautiful, and you’re smart, and you’re funny and you’re all these things,” Rapinoe gushed. She wondered why Harris chose politics, where she’d be reminded she’s “still a woman” and “still black.”

Harris’s answer centered on determination, hard work, and barrier breaking. She claimed her parents took her to “marches” in a “stroller,” which supposedly shaped her political career.

But the real eyebrow-raiser came when Rapinoe discussed women’s sports.

“I’m thinking about my own experience being a female athlete, and I went through, in the prime of my career, just the most historic time in women’s sports,” she said. “I mean, it was crazy in the best ways. We saw a huge amount of progress, which has led into a pretty significant regression in terms of just equal rights and people’s rights in general. I definitely think those two are tied.”

Let’s be clear about what Rapinoe is calling a “regression.” She’s upset that biological males are now being prevented from competing against women in many states and sports organizations. That’s not a loss of rights — it’s the protection of fairness.

The reality is exactly opposite of what Rapinoe claims. If a biological male had taken her spot on the U.S. women’s soccer team, she never would have achieved her career success. Male athletes aren’t being prevented from playing sports — they’re simply required to compete against other males. That’s the only position that makes sense, which is precisely why Rapinoe opposes it.

Rapinoe tried connecting women’s sports being “different” from men’s sports to governing “as a woman.” Harris laughed aggressively and responded with a rambling answer.

“Well, I’ve always been a woman, so I don’t know what to tell you,” Harris said.

Then came one of the stranger moments in the interview. Harris asked Rapinoe to close her eyes and picture “the boy next door” based on four words.

“Now you have a sense of what he looks like,” Harris continued. “He probably plays softball, he probably lives somewhere in suburban America. He’s a good kid.”

Since when do boys play softball? Harris then claimed there are no four-word phrases that could describe women like her and Rapinoe. Plenty of Americans could suggest some accurate four-word descriptions, though none the pair would appreciate.

Later, Harris lectured about wealth concentration.

“We have increasingly witnessed a concentration of wealth and power among a few, to the exclusion of the most, and that wealth and concentration being also a political power.”

This came from a woman who just bought an $8 million Malibu house with a heated pool and spa. The same party that includes Joe Biden, whose son Hunter traded on his father’s influence for personal gain, and Barack Obama, who owns multiple mansions including a Martha’s Vineyard estate.

When Rapinoe asked if Harris would run for president again in 2028, the former vice president said she hasn’t decided.

The interview reveals why Harris lost in 2024. Her campaign aligned itself with figures like Rapinoe, who believe biological males should compete in women’s sports and view everything through a lens of grievance. Harris offered no meaningful insights about herself, politics, or improving the country — only vague hand-waving about the need for change.

There’s been no “regression” in women’s rights. If anything, the rising popularity of leagues like the WNBA makes it more obvious why protecting female athletes matters — both physically and competitively. Rapinoe can’t accept this reality because it undermines her worldview.

Why It Matters

Working families understand fairness instinctively. They know boys and girls are different, and that protecting women’s sports isn’t discrimination — it’s common sense. When wealthy coastal elites lecture middle America about rights while living in luxury, everyday Americans see the hypocrisy clearly. The disconnect between what activists call “progress” and what hardworking people value as fairness couldn’t be wider.
