January 1, Why the Left Pretends WaPo’s Fall Is a Mystery

Wyatt’s Take

  • The Left acts clueless about why people turn away from their media.
  • Layoffs at The Washington Post are the result of pushing activism instead of real news.
  • Readers see through this and want journalism, not lectures.

The Left likes to act like they don’t get why folks are fed up with their media. But it’s not hard to figure out. The Washington Post’s idea of news often sounded more like a comedy sketch than real reporting. They even ran headlines calling birds’ names racist and told folks to stop calling food ‘exotic’ because it is somehow offensive.

“It’s amazing how much leftist discourse is just them pretending not to understand things, thus making discourse impossible.”

That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Reporters with titles like “intersection of civil rights and cooking” cranked out pieces about racism everywhere but seemed shocked when readership tanked. One honest critic pointed out, if you look at their archives, many so-called “brilliant journalists” barely published a handful of stories in months—some only on topics like racist alligators. Jeff Bezos, apparently, was supposed to bankroll this circus forever because he was successful.

When regular Americans lose trust in the news, it’s usually because they’re being talked down to, not informed. Another reader summed it up:

“I’m annoyed by fake stuff WaPo kept publishing.”

Folks online were quick to show how easy it is to do basic research and spot the problems. Even the word ‘exotic’ somehow became controversial, proving just how out of touch the national media can be.

Sometimes, Left-leaning celebrities are stunned by what’s actually being pushed as policy. Bill Maher had to explain to an actor that the so-called “Blue Sky bubble” keeps them from seeing how far out there things have gotten.

The only way for these news outlets to recover is by bursting that bubble and focusing on facts and trust. Some, like CBS with new leadership, are trying, and it’s actually working for them. When true reporting comes back, so do the viewers.

In the end, the mass layoffs at WaPo were bound to happen. Swapping curiosity for activism is a recipe for failure, no matter how much the Left pretends otherwise.
