Wyatt’s Take

  • The White House made a joke after Don Lemon was arrested during a church protest.
  • Lemon’s lawyer says he was just doing his job as a reporter.
  • The Department of Justice wanted a warrant but a judge said no.

The White House took to social media to make fun of Don Lemon’s arrest after he was taken into custody for joining a demonstration that stopped a church service. They posted, “When life gives you lemons,” along with a picture of Lemon inside the church.

Lemon was arrested Thursday night. His attorney, Abbe Lowell, said Lemon was acting as a journalist, not a criminal.

“Don has been a journalist for 30 years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis was no different than what he has always done,” Lowell said.

The judge turned down the Justice Department’s plan for a warrant, but DOJ pushed on with a grand jury instead.

“The First Amendment exists to protect journalists whose role it is to shine light on the truth and hold those in power accountable. There is no more important time for people like Don to be doing this work,” Lowell added.

Middle America folks know when the powerful poke fun at regular people—or those trying to ask hard questions—it’s time to pay attention. This isn’t just about politics. It’s about fairness, free speech, and not letting the government laugh at those who challenge it.

Um, you’re actually siding with Don Lemon when he disrupted people from their right to worship peacefully? This is unlike you.

You gotta be kidding! Siding with this terrorist of churches? Gee and I thought you were nothing like the democrats. Well sicko, I won’t trust another thing you ever say.

You are siding with a criminal?

He violated the First Ammendment rights of all those church goers to worship. Rushing into a place of worship and disrupting their services is a violation of rights but also trespassing. Would you defend someone rushing into your home and protesting in your kitchen?

Wyatt, do you not understand the difference between free speech and freedom of religion? Had Mr. Lemon remained outside and interviewed the pastor and church members he would be a journalist. When entered the church he became a protestor just as guilty as the others.

You have been scratched off my list of anyone I would listen too! Lemon should be punished to the full extent of the law!

Wow, who is this guy? I’ve read a couple of his articles and they were pretty good, but this one’s whacked. I think you forget that freedom to exercise religion is fundamental and protected by the same first amendment as your so-called journalism. He Wasn’t “holding those in power accountable” what a crock. He was aggressively invading and by his presence and behavior threatening people in a private worship service. I’m sure he violated multiple laws, let’s just hope he pays for it.

I could not agree more! Freedom of speech does not give “freedom to disrupt freedom of religion.” I probably didn’t say that right…but that’s the fundamental difference between exercising freedom of speech, and infringing on freedom of religion.

You have become just another hate America leftist who does not believe in the freedom of religion and protection on those worshiping the religion of their choice. Do you also side with the antisemites in this country? Please resign from posting about Don Lemon and not explaining that he is a leftist racist and always was.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of [religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof]

When you barge into a church service protesting and yelling you are violating their free exercise to conduct the service.Therefor you (the protesting idiots) are in violation of the amendment.

the activist judge that released Lemon from jail with no bail, should be removed from the bench and (in my opinion) be disbarred.

Agree on your take on the activist judges.

That whole picture makes me sick. “Peaceful Assembly”…”Listen to us!”…Yeah, while you disrupt a Church Service with your servile, toadyish, blah blah…you make me sick.

It wasn’t just the idea that he was in the church and in their face, it was also the fact that he was outside with the protesters buying them donuts and was involved in helping organize. It was all caught on video. Therefore, he was not acting as a journalist. If grandma praying outside an abortion clinic is put in jail Lemon should justifiably go to jail as well. I am also surprised at your view in this article! What changed?
