January 1, Wave of ‘Flash Robberies’ Hit Luxury Stores in Southern California
Southern California’s bout with ‘flash robberies’ continues as Nordstrom Rack in Riverside becomes the latest casualty.
This wave of organized thefts involves large groups of thieves who, in a coordinated effort, overwhelm a store’s employees and security to rapidly snatch and run with valuable merchandise.
The Riverside Nordstrom Rack saw a band of six thieves making away with thousands of dollars’ worth of designer handbags.
The store located on Canyon Springs Parkway was first victimized on July 10, and then again in a distinct incident on August 14.
Surveillance footage captured the thieves, comprised of both men and women, hurriedly targeting the handbag and accessories section during the initial raid.
They are seen aggressively removing bags from displays and bypassing security lock devices. This bold group arm-loaded merchandise before swiftly fleeing the scene.
But Nordstrom Rack wasn’t their only target.
A few days following the Nordstrom Rack incident, a Macy’s store in Downtown Los Angeles was robbed in a similar fashion.
A team of about five hooded thieves was videotaped shoveling designer perfume into trash bags at the Santa Anita mall in Arcadia.
Disturbingly, amid this chaos, an employee can be audibly heard exclaiming, “oh my god, can somebody call someone.”
This trend is hardly isolated.
Over the past few weeks, there have been numerous such occurrences. Three women were apprehended for stealing roughly $30,000 in designer handbags from a store in Glendale.
Also in Glendale, a YSL store faced a major theft when over 30 culprits stormed in, taking around $300,000 worth of items.
Other establishments, such as a premium denim outlet in Gabcock Park, a Nike Store in East LA, and a Gucci store in Costa Mesa, have also been victimized.
These events are not minor in scale. Due to the high-end nature of the targets, theft amounts frequently surpass $100,000.
While some arrests linked to these flash robberies have been made, law enforcement attributes the rise in such crimes to a zero cash bail policy.
Tom Saggau, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Protective League, commented on the matter to Fox News Digital, stating “the elimination of cash bail for these types of offenses is really an invitation to these kind of folks who are inclined to break the law and inclined to do it so brazenly.”
The policy stipulates that individuals charged with a crime can be freed without paying any bail money upfront.
Reacting to the surge of these crimes, LA Mayor Karen Bass declared, “these are not victimless crimes. No Angeleno should feel like it is not safe to go shopping in Los Angeles. No entrepreneur should feel like it’s not safe to open a business in Los Angeles.”
To counteract this wave of robberies, law enforcement announced the creation of a new task force specifically to address flash mobs in the region.

ANYBODY who pays the prices they ask for a purse that has a freekin’ fancy name called “designer bag”, is OUT OF THEIR MIND, when you can get the same crap at Walmart for $25. Nordstroms and other RICH PEOPLE STORES need a battallion of guards at the front doors, fully armed since California prefers to slap CRIMINALS on the wrist and NOT prosecute. Hell, they don’t even get a slap, they are at the freekin’ swap meet selling their GOODS in a half hour!!! That’s why I moved OUT of Mexifornia!!!
