  • Three people lost their lives in a North Carolina dockside shooting.
  • The suspect, a veteran with PTSD, is facing serious charges.
  • Police say the attack was premeditated, but the community is now safe.

In North Carolina, a shooting at a dockside restaurant left three dead and eight hurt. Police named Nigel Max Edge, a U.S. veteran, as the suspect and arrested him at a nearby boat ramp.

Authorities reported that Edge opened fire from a boat at the American Fish Company, then fled toward Oak Island. The Coast Guard later detained him.

“We believe that this was a targeted location,” said Southport Police Chief Todd Coring.

“He acted in what we call a ‘lone wolf.’ He acted alone.”

“This is highly premeditated from what we are seeing at this time and we feel that there are no other threats to our community, that we do have someone in custody.”

Police said Edge was a combat veteran suffering from PTSD. Charges against him include first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Before the shooting, Edge was known as Sean William DeBevoise and wrote a book describing his wartime experiences.

“Returning from the warzone severely wounded, my life would never be the same as it once was.”

Investigators are still looking into the case, but police say no other suspects are at large.
