Wyatt’s Take

  • JD Vance highlighted Trump’s pro-life record at March For Life.
  • The Trump administration promises new bans on foreign abortion funding.
  • Most Americans support limits on abortion and want safer policies.

Vice President JD Vance spoke loud and clear for life at the March For Life, opening his second year in office with a call to defend the unborn. He praised past victories, cited his expanding family, and pledged the Trump administration’s firm alliance with pro-life Americans.

“Our vision is simple. We want life to thrive in the United States of America,” Vance said shortly after sharing news of his growing family.

Vance outlined steps already taken: pardons for peaceful protestors, reversing taxpayer-funded abortion policies, and introducing stronger protections for doctors with moral objections to ending unborn life.

He gave credit to President Trump and the Supreme Court for overturning Roe v. Wade with the Dobbs decision.

“With the Dobbs decision, what we did, what the President did, what the Supreme Court did, was put a definitive end to the tyranny of judicial rule on the question of human life,” Vance said. “He shattered a 50-year culture of disposability, one that treated human life as expendable the moment that it became inconvenient. And he empowered our nation and our movement to build a culture of life from the grassroots up. Over the last year — [I’ve] got to brag a little bit — our administration has worked very hard to lead that effort and to pick up the pieces, to clean up the wreckages of five decades of bad policy on the question of life.”

The administration now aims to strengthen the Mexico City policy, cutting all funds to international groups involved in abortion overseas.

Vance acknowledged tough battles ahead and promised to listen to pro-life voices. “Let me tell you something very simple. Under this administration, again, from the president of the United States, the vice president, you have an ally in the White House,” he promised.

He called on Americans to reject indifference, saying, “Our country cannot be indifferent about whether its next generations live or die.”

Vance said families and children are “the source of a great joy,” and that this is part of God’s design for life at every level of our society.

“You’re never going to find great meaning in a cubicle or in front of a computer screen, but you will find great meaning if you dedicate yourself to the creation and sustenance of human life,” Vance said.

Recently, President Trump stressed the importance of ending taxpayer funding for abortion both at home and abroad, despite political debate over the Hyde Amendment.

“We have stopped forced taxpayer funding of abortion at home and abroad…Every child is a gift from God.”

Most Americans, according to recent polls, want limits on abortion. About two-thirds support restrictions, and over half do not want abortions after the first trimester.

Some states have cracked down on abortion after Dobbs, while others have made it easier, backed by outside activists. Mail-order abortion pills remain a concern, with polls showing voters want the FDA to keep women safe from risky drugs.

The FDA is now reviewing abortion pill safety and just approved a generic version, raising more questions for voters who want tougher safeguards.
