Wyatt’s Take

  • First trial over Uvalde shooting response ends in acquittal
  • Jury finds Adrian Gonzales not guilty on all child endangerment charges
  • Case underscores anger over law enforcement actions that day

A Texas jury found former Uvalde school police officer Adrian Gonzales not guilty of all charges in connection with the Robb Elementary School shooting. The jury spent seven hours deliberating before delivering their decision.

Gonzales was charged with 29 counts—one for each person lost in the attack. The defense argued he was made a scapegoat for broader failures during the tragedy.

Prosecutors claimed Gonzales knew about the gunman inside the school but did not do enough to confront him. The shooter, Salvador Ramos, was inside for over an hour before being stopped.

This case is the first trial linked to the failed law enforcement response in the attack. The former chief of Uvalde school police, Pete Arredondo, will also face trial for his role.

All of those corn fed Uvaldes best highly trained professionals did not do their job. They were cowards not to rush that shooter and save lives. They are disgusting. They are all guilty

The jury is as INCOMPETENT as he was. He is still guilty to me and EVERYONE that lost a child or loved one that day 😔😢😔😢
