January 1, Trump’s Policies at Risk—Is a ‘Judicial Coup’ Underway?

Folks, there’s been a lot of action going on with our courts lately, and it looks like they’re making it hard for President Trump to do what he promised: put America first. Since January, judges have been stepping in and stopping some of Trump’s big ideas to improve our country.

Vice President JD Vance rightly pointed out that judges shouldn’t be running the show. But some folks say that’s what’s happening right now. Even the President of El Salvador said it looks like a “judicial coup.”

Let me give you a few examples of what’s been happening:

Judge Theodore Chuang, who got his job thanks to Obama, said we have to keep the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) running. Trump wanted to shut it down as part of cutting down on wasting taxpayer money. But Chuang said closing it is Congress’s decision, not Trump’s.

Another judge, Amir Ali, decided Trump has to pay $2 billion to foreign aid groups. That’s a lot of money that could be used right here at home!

Trump’s been working hard to send illegal immigrants back, like over 200 gang members who were flown back to El Salvador. But then, Judge James Boasberg stopped this plan with a restraining order. Why should we keep criminals here when they’re breaking our laws?

Then there’s the issue with the military. Trump wants to make sure our troops are as strong and ready as possible, but Judge Ana C. Reyes blocked his order about who can serve, making it harder for our military to stay focused and unified.

Judge George O’Toole also stopped Trump from making sure men who say they’re women go to men’s prisons. Trump issued an order recognizing only two sexes to make things clear.

And let’s talk about education. Trump tried to stop wasteful spending on things like diversity training, but Judge Julie R. Rubin said no. She wants us to keep spending millions on things many Americans don’t agree with.

There’s also some trouble with stopping taxpayer money spending to make sure it’s not wasted. Judges Loren AliKhan and John McConnell Jr. blocked Trump’s spending pause, which was supposed to help save money for all of us.

Even a plan to let federal workers leave their jobs with benefits was stopped by Judge George O’Toole Jr. The unions argued against it, but O’Toole didn’t say the plan was illegal.

On top of that, Trump tried to make sure the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) could look at government spending records to save money. But judges are blocking access to important information that could help cut waste.

Lastly, Trump’s big plan to end birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants got hit with multiple lawsuits, with several judges blocking it right away. Trump is now asking the Supreme Court for help on this.

It seems like every step of the way, there’s a roadblock when Trump is trying to make changes that many of us believe are right for America. We’ll see what happens next, and hopefully, the Supreme Court can help get things back on track.
