Kentucky Auditor Allison Ball and Dr. OJ Oleka testified before the House Oversight Committee this week about the staggering cost of government waste.

They warned that a culture of indifference toward fraud is directly hitting the wallets of working-class Americans.

“When you have a culture that defers to fraud and allows it to stand, then you spend more money,” Oleka told the committee.

“When you spend more money that then mandates, based on your political philosophy, an increase in taxes.”

Ball revealed that an audit of Medicaid in her state found $836 million in waste, partly because people were collecting benefits in multiple states at once.

She claimed the state administration dismissed the findings, viewing fraud prevention as a “low priority” compared to political goals.

“I would hope that nobody’s trying to make fraud a partisan issue,” Oleka said.

“I think it’s really important that you’ve got the American people who feel not only compelled but interested in making sure their money is being spent efficiently.”

Critics argue that some leaders are reluctant to admit to fraud because it proves that massive government programs are inefficient.

This ideological blind spot allows fraudsters to drive luxury cars while honest neighbors struggle to survive on basic benefits.
