President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that Iran has reached out directly to the United States and very much wants a deal to end the conflict.
The President expressed hope that the nearly seven-month war is approaching its conclusion.
Trump had predicted last week that the fighting would wind down after the November midterm elections.
His assessment appears to be holding as Iran seeks an exit from the battlefield.
“Iran has contacted the United States directly and very much wants a deal,” Trump stated.
“Hopefully we are nearing the end of this war.”

After the mid-terms may well be too late to preserve Repub control of both/either national legislature chamber. Trump got very bad advice or a very faulty assessment of the ability of the radical mohammedan theocracy and para-military forces of Iran to resist American military efforts to topple the regime. Or despite receiving an accurate assessment he let his hubris drive his actions. This inability to correctly assess an enemies capabilities and/or resist the temptation to meddle in a regional conflict has been an all too common problem with American administrations for the past eight decades.
