Wyatt’s Take

  • The Trump administration plans to dump the 2009 climate rule this Thursday.
  • Officials say this rollback will save Americans $1.3 trillion and make cars cheaper.
  • This is part of a move to loosen tough government regulations on energy and autos.

The White House says it will strike down a major Obama-era climate rule this week. That rule let the EPA force strict vehicle emissions standards that raised car prices and red tape. Trump officials call this the biggest rollback of federal rules in U.S. history, estimating $1.3 trillion in savings for Americans. The EPA expects new cars will get about $2,400 cheaper.

“This will be the largest deregulatory action in American history.”

On Thursday, President Trump will join EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin to make this move official. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt says these changes will help “make life more affordable for everyday Americans.” For years, the old rule let unelected bureaucrats go after fossil fuels and push pricey green mandates. One EPA spokesperson called the finding “one of the most damaging decisions in modern history.”

Ending this rule also means the federal government can’t force car companies to follow strict emissions rules set by previous Democrat administrations. The Trump team has been clear: they want to protect jobs in the auto and coal industries and stop government from dictating what families drive. GOP leaders also plan an event celebrating American coal this week. Meanwhile, critics claim the rollback will hurt public health and help big corporations, but many working people are ready for government to get off their backs.

Washington is finally listening to folks who want affordable cars and reliable jobs, not more government control. Scrapping these regulations gives families a break and puts common sense ahead of elite climate agendas.

Thank God! Those ridiculous cafe standards are not possible for internal combustion engines. That technology has limits and they have been reached. And electric vehicles are not ready for prime time. So, the only thing left is to make cars smaller and lighter…which means unsafe. And that auto stop/start nonsense is horseshit, and the first thing people would be disabling. Now, if we can just get the President to get rid of DST there may be hope for humanity yet.
