  • The U.S. Navy is building up forces near Venezuela.
  • America is cracking down on ships moving Venezuelan oil.

President Trump told reporters that Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro should not test America’s strength.

Trump warned Maduro that if he “plays tough,” it could be the last time he ever does.

“He can do whatever he wants. We have a massive armada formed, the biggest we’ve ever had – by far the biggest we’ve ever had in South America.”

“If he plays tough, it’ll be the last time he’s ever able to play tough,” said Trump.

When asked if the U.S. wanted Maduro removed from power, Trump stated it was Maduro’s choice.

“That’s up to him what he wants to do. I think it would be smart for him to do that, but, again, we’re going to find out,” said Trump.

The Trump administration strengthened its presence in the southern Caribbean, adding the USS Gerald R. Ford, America’s most advanced aircraft carrier, to the fleet stationed off Venezuela’s coast.

The U.S. military moved troops and ships to help block drug routes out of Venezuela.

Sanctioned oil tankers tied to Venezuela’s government have also been targeted.

Trump said the U.S. will keep or possibly sell the oil from confiscated ships.

“We’re going to keep it. Maybe we’ll sell it.”

“Maybe we’ll keep it. Maybe we’ll use it in the strategic reserves,” said Trump.
