Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump called Treasury Secretary Bessent “our savior.”
  • Bessent is leading a big investigation into taxpayer money in Minnesota.
  • Trump called out leaders who “don’t do what they should do.”

President Trump took the stage in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, and fired up the crowd by singing the praises of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Bessent joined other top officials as Trump named him “our savior” in front of a cheering audience.

“We have our savior in this room. His name is Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent,” Trump told the crowd.

Trump said Bessent looked like “central casting” for his job and called him “handsome.” He added that Bessent is tougher than he looks and gets things done.

Bessent is heading up an investigation into taxpayer funds from Minnesota that may have landed in the hands of an overseas terror group, Al-Shabaab.

“He is in charge of the investigation of Somalia and the billions of dollars they have robbed from Minnesota, right?” Trump asked. “I hope you do your job. I hope you’re not one of these Republicans where something comes up, and they don’t do what they should do, because they’re nicer people.”

Trump joked about trading jobs with Bessent, saying he’d love to lead the investigation. He said some politicians and their friends “hate our country” and “ought to get them the hell out of here.”

Trump told Bessent to be honest and fair, urging him to follow through, not just talk tough.
