Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump sets 25% tariff on any nation trading with Iran.
  • White House signals all options are possible in dealing with Iran’s crackdown.
  • Tough words come as protests against Iran’s regime continue.

President Trump has issued a 25 percent tariff on any country doing business with Iran. He made the announcement directly to the people Monday on Truth Social.

“Effective immediately, any Country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America,” he wrote. “This Order is final and conclusive.”

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt shared that Trump has all options open, from air strikes to diplomacy, in response to Iran’s crackdown on protestors. She said, “Well, I think one thing President Trump is very good at is always keeping all of his options on the table, and airstrikes would be one of the many, many options that are on the table for the commander-in-chief. Diplomacy is always the first option for the president.”

Leavitt explained, “He’s told all of you last night that what you’re hearing publicly from the Iranian regime is quite differently [sic] from the messages the administration is receiving privately, and I think the president has an interest in exploring those messages.” She said envoy Steve Witkoff will keep playing a big role in diplomacy on Iran.

Trump has also said Iran is “looking at FREEDOM, perhaps like never before” and that the U.S. “stands ready to help.”

Over 500 protesters have reportedly been killed in demonstrations against Iran’s government, and more than 10,000 locked up. On Sunday night, Trump warned Iran is getting close to crossing his red line.

“There seemed to be some people killed that aren’t supposed to be killed,” he said. He called the Iranian regime a ruler “through violence.”

“The military is looking at it, and we’re looking at some very strong options,” he added. He also said some protesters were shot, and others died in stampedes.

Stay sharp, folks. These decisions can shape our future and hit close to home if foreign deals cost us jobs and safety.
