President Trump is preparing to officially sign a government funding bill tonight, finally bringing the historic shutdown to a close.
The signing is happening at 9:45 p.m., making this the longest shutdown in our nation’s history.
The House of Representatives approved the funding bill by a 222-209 margin, clearing the way for the President’s signature.
While some lawmakers on both sides voiced frustration, Trump called the legislation a victory and moved forward. House Democrats, in particular, expressed strong opposition.
The days ahead will show if this agreement brings any real change or just kicks the problems down the road.
