January 1, Trump Border Policies Freeze Catholic Charities Funding in Miami

Wyatt’s Take

  • The Trump administration pulled an $11 million contract from Catholic Charities in Miami after decades of taxpayer funding.
  • Officials say falling illegal border crossings have left migrant child facilities empty and unnecessary.
  • Archbishop Thomas Wenski says the programs are needed for future waves of migration, while the White House calls the move good stewardship.

Wenski argued that his programs served as a model for the rest of the country for 60 years.

“Yet, the Archdiocese of Miami’s Catholic Charities’ services for unaccompanied minors has been stripped of funding and will be forced to shut down within three months.”

The administration countered that the drop in illegal entry justifies the cuts.

“Our historically secure border means fewer border crossings. This is good stewardship of taxpayer dollars made possible by common-sense border policies that keep the American people safe and protect our sovereignty,” White House officials stated.

Wyatt Matters

Working families expect tax dollars to be spent wisely, not on maintaining empty infrastructure for illegal arrivals. This decision reflects a border strategy focused on security, accountability, and putting American interests first.

Somehow Trump has managed to cut $300 BILLION in social services and still balloon the budget with all of his money going to the military industrial complex. Is it clear yet that the no new wars president is full of shit?
