January 1, Trump Assassination Threat Foiled as Arizona Sex Offender Arrested

A manhunt was initiated for Ronald Lee Syvrud, a sex offender in Arizona who allegedly threatened to assassinate former President Donald Trump during his recent visit to the U.S.-Mexico border. A clear threat to national security and the safety of a highly respected former president, Syvrud’s threats were reportedly made on social media.

At 66 years old, Syvrud is described as a white man standing six feet tall and weighing 220 pounds, with glasses. His last known address is in Benson, Arizona. The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office revealed he has multiple open warrants in Wisconsin and Arizona for DUI, failure to appear in court, hit-and-run, and failure to register as a sex offender.

To illustrate the seriousness of this individual, a 2023 mugshot provided by the police shows Syvrud with light-colored eyes, white hair, and a mustache.

Security has been heightened in Sierra Vista due to these threats, as confirmed by Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels. In light of Trump speaking at an open venue, the law enforcement community took no chances and ensured robust measures were in place.

This alarming situation comes just six weeks after Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old gunman, attempted to assassinate Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. While Trump sustained a minor ear injury, the incident tragically resulted in the death of audience member Corey Comperatore and injuries to two other men. Trump, showing his unyielding spirit, remained steadfast despite the attack.

Syvrud, who has a history as a registered Democrat, possesses a lengthy rap sheet, including a 2000 conviction for second-degree sexual assault of a child. This highlights the dangerous background of the individual who threatened Trump.

Sheriff Dannels emphasized, “We have zero tolerance for any kind of threats or intents of violence, so we’ll find him. He’ll go to jail. He’s a registered sex offender here in Cochise County, and we were looking for him. He’s out of compliance as part of his violations. So we’re looking for him on that.”

“We’re going to arrest him on that. But also the fact his pulse was obviously directed toward this event. So we want to talk to him about that,” Dannels added.

It’s reassuring to know that our law enforcement agencies are on high alert and ready to protect our leaders and citizens from such nefarious threats.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the suspect is now in custody.

Good to hear law enforcement is on their toes. Hope Secret Service is too.

Authorities are too lax with sex offenders. Especially those who molest children. This man needs to be kept behind bars for the rest of his life, no parole, no registering. Let the drug conviction convicts out, and keep room for this maniac forever!!!
