Salutations Americans,

Trump 2024? It was announced on Friday that former president Donald Trump received a two-year ban from Facebook. Trump released a statement that seemed to include his strongest hint yet of a 2024 presidential run: “Next time I’m in the White House there will be no more dinners, at his request, with Mark Zuckerberg and his wife. It will be all business!”

Meanwhile in Hollywood, former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell has been charged with crimes against children. The 34-year-old was charged with attempted endangerment of children, in addition to “disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.” Bell, best known for the mid-2000s show Drake & Josh, plead guilty to both counts.

People in North Carolina may be unpleasantly surprised when calling 911 for help. The Asheville Police Department has ordered its officers to stop responding to certain crimes due to an ongoing “staffing crisis.” Incidents that will no longer receive an in-person response include fraud, identity theft, and simple assaults that are reported after they occurred.

Dogs really are man’s best friend. A recent study finds that puppies are primed to communicate with you soon after their birth. Emily Bray, a post-doctoral research associate at the Arizona Canine Cognition Center, says, “Puppies will look at and return a person’s social gaze and successfully use information given by that person in a social context from a very young age, all prior to any extensive experience with people.”

In health news, the FDA approved a drug that could be used to treat obesity. On Friday, the Food and Drug Administration approved Wegovy for long-term weight management. Studies showed that participants lost an average of 15% of their weight over a 34-month period.

Lastly, former Vice President Mike Pence recently distanced himself from Trump over the January 6 insurrection. During a speech in New Hampshire on Thursday, Pence said, “President Trump and I have spoken many times since we’ve left office, and I don’t know if we’ll ever see eye to eye on that day.”

Be well,
