January 1, Top Health Exec Urged Med Schools to Prioritize Race in Admissions

Published

on

Hey folks, today we’re diving into what’s happening in our healthcare system. Dr. Monique Butler is a big shot at a company called HCA Healthcare. Now, she believes that “diversity” is super important in healthcare. She wants medical schools to let in students based on their race, so they’re more racially balanced like the rest of the country.

Dr. Butler was made president of a part of HCA that helps train new doctors, and HCA is massive. They train thousands of new doctors and have a hand in about 5% of all hospital services in the U.S. Before this job, she was already talking about making sure medical schools have a certain number of students from different races.

She has a whole lot of ideas about diversity. In one of her talks, she said things like race and gender affect how people get treated and taken care of in hospitals. She thinks schools need to make sure they’re bringing in as many black students as there are in the general population. But get this, there’s been talk of studies she mentions that have been proven wrong. One said black babies do worse with white doctors, which experts have debunked.

Dr. Butler’s views have some folks raising their eyebrows. A group called Do No Harm, which thinks medicine should be about the best person for the job no matter what, says Dr. Butler’s ideas take us backwards. They argue we should pick doctors based on skill, not skin color.

HCA, the company she works for, used to be all about diversity and equity, but recently, they’ve been pretty hush-hush about it. They’ve even taken down some of the information about their diversity programs from their website. HCA says they’re all about caring for everyone and promoting respect, no matter who you are. But they are clearly pulling back on the big DEI push.

Overall, there’s a growing call, especially since the Supreme Court said no to things like affirmative action, to step back from focusing on diversity and go back to picking the best people for jobs based on merit. This is something a lot of folks think is the right path forward.

Wyatt Matters!

In our healthcare system, it’s important to focus on who can help us best, not just on what they look like. Some people believe that medical schools should accept students based on race to be more diverse, like Dr. Monique Butler suggests. But there are others who think that doctors should be judged and chosen for their skills and abilities, because the most important thing is that they can take care of people really well.

Picking doctors based on talent and ability means everyone will get the best care possible. Even though having a mix of people from different backgrounds in hospitals can be good, it should be skill and kindness that count the most. Some stories that try to show racial differences in healthcare have not been accurate, and that can lead to confusion about how to best take care of patients.

Lots of people, including experts, believe that we should always aim to hire the best people who can treat patients fairly and with respect. This approach helps ensure that everyone gets the healthcare they need, regardless of their own background or the background of their doctor. It’s all about making sure everyone is healthy and well cared for.

Remove this parasite from her position ASAP, this is even worse than having a DEI pilot!

Her comments and believes are like a disease for this country. It is like internal rot. Years ago they called it a “fifth column”, a group designed to ruin a country from within. Like a cancer, it must be removed. Otherwise we will become a 5th world country……….

As a retired nurse who has worked in Hospitals on a Pediatrics , Medical -Surgical, Telemetry, and an ICU floor, I have seen it all over the last 40 years…DEI has only impacted Healthcare in a negative way. The doctors coming out of school are not taught integrative care , nutrition, or Holistic Care. They see a patient for 5 minutes, while typing on the keyboard…order toxic meds and vaccinations…and slip out the door to talk about vacations…it’s hard to find a white male doctor which is comforting to white populations who speak English…Sorry, but I do not want the immigrant doctors, who were chosen because of their color to be in charge of my health, PERIOD.They are clearly sub-standard.

As long as the doctors are merit qualified, I don’t care what ethnicity or color they are. What’s important is excellence. That’s all.

The academic standards are far more important than filling any racial quota

To V. Kellenberger. Your comment is so true. I am a sufferer of chronic problems. I trusted my medical caregivers implicitly at a large university conglomerate medical center west of Chicago for many years, until the day they had a kneel-in for BLM on the grass by their main entrance. Now, as an “old white male” (their definition) I wonder about their earnestness of concern, and am fearful of taking anesthetic procedures administered by “diverse” haters.

I thought President Trump signed an order about this nonsense. She needs to be fired! This creates sub standard care givers and sub standard care. Who’s in charge here? Now that her position is out, lets get her out!

Feds don’t control private entities, but if they’re receiving Federal funding (Medicare and Medicaid to name a few) they can lose it. I wonder if she’s committing HCA to make up lost Federal funding to the medical schools as well…

If I need open heart or brain surgery, I will not allow a person of color to operate on me, knowing they may have been pushed through the system because of their skin color. Dr Butler needs to go. I am so tired of the stupidity of it all.

Don’t make blanket judgements. Ben Carson is a prime example of a black man that pursued excellence and escaped the slums of Baltimore to become a renowned neurosurgeon. Proof that hard work and merit do count above all else.

I cannot believe this is even an issue. I don’t want a DEI pilot, car mechanic, plumber or electrician etc. unless they are the most qualified. I don’t care if they are male, female, black, white or purple if they are the most qualified.

You can look up any Physician or PA/Physicians Assistant and read their resume and and rating. I’s your body and your right to be able to make informed decisions. If you don’t like or feel comfortable with the person it’s also your right to change who you wish to treat you. It’s no different than deciding who you wish to hire to do your yard work, mechanic, plumbing etc…
Ask questions on your first visit and write them out so you won’t forget something of importance to you and bring a list of any present medication and dosage you may be taking.

    Here’s to Healthy Life.
