Wyatt’s Take

  • A terror leader admitted to organizing plots against federal officials.
  • The group used instant messaging to recruit hit men and plan attacks.
  • The guilty plea may bring decades of prison time.

The head of a group called Terrorgram Collective pleaded guilty to charges linked with hiring killers and plotting attacks against U.S. targets. The Department of Justice said Dallas Humber, from Elk Grove, California, admitted to the crimes, but sentencing won’t happen until December 5.

Humber could face up to 30 years in prison for organizing and carrying out these attacks.

“Hate and terror have no place in this country or abroad,” said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon. “By securing this conviction, my office makes clear that purveyors of these heinous crimes will be brought to justice.”

The group relied on instant messaging to run their operations, aiming to inspire and assist others in acts of violence. Humber admitted to leading the group from July 2022 until her arrest, and to recruiting people to commit hate crimes and offering advice to carry out violence.

The Justice Department said followers tried to attack energy sites in New Jersey and Tennessee, murdered two people in Wisconsin, and targeted officials in the U.S. and Australia.

There were also attacks abroad, including a shooting in a Slovakian LGBT bar and stabbings outside a Turkish mosque. Officers found guns, Nazi items, ammunition, and more when Humber was arrested.

Left unchecked, dangerous groups threaten the safety of every law-abiding American. This case proves that strong action and tough sentences are needed. Stay alert and keep your loved ones safe by staying informed.
