A masked coward turned a Fourth of July family barbecue into a bloodbath Friday when he opened fire on innocent Americans celebrating Independence Day in Coney Island, New York City. At least eight people were shot, including four children, according to authorities.

One victim remains in critical condition fighting for their life. The others suffered various injuries as panicked families scattered for cover while gunfire erupted at what should have been a peaceful community gathering.

The shooter, wearing a mask to hide his identity, targeted families enjoying burgers and hotdogs on America’s birthday. He opened fire indiscriminately before fleeing the scene, leaving chaos and trauma in his wake.
