January 1, Taliban impersonates US troops, mocks America in propaganda videos
Taliban insurgents are apparently gloating about the stockpile of US gear they seized from Afghan army upon their swift takeover of Afghanistan.
Khalil Haqqani, a global terrorist subject to a $5 million reward, was photographed preaching in a mosque while holding an American assault rifle and surrounded by soldiers in US military gear.
Members of the Badri 313 Brigade are reportedly seen in propaganda footage wearing what appears to be US military uniforms and special forces helmets with mounts for night-vision goggles, and armed with M4 and M-16 assault rifles.
The US provided the Afghan military an estimated $28 billion in weaponry between 2002 and 2017.
