Wyatt’s Take

  • Law enforcement arrested 26 alleged gang members in a sweep involving nearly 50 total defendants.
  • The operation targeted leaders accused of running operations from behind bars using smuggled cell phones.
  • Officials seized large amounts of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and illegal firearms during the investigation.

Federal and local law enforcement joined forces to dismantle the gang also known as La Eme.

This group reportedly exerts control over most Hispanic street gangs across the state through fear and violence.

“Gang members who murder, extort, kidnap, and traffic drugs and firearms are a menace to our communities and our way of life,” said First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli.

Prosecutors say leaders inside Ironwood State Prison used encrypted apps to direct murders and drug trafficking on the outside.

Two defendants are accused of a cold-blooded murder at an Anaheim motel just to earn their way into the gang hierarchy.

“This type of criminal activity has a direct impact on our neighborhoods and our residents,” according to Anaheim Police Chief Manny Cid.

The raid resulted in the seizure of over 120 pounds of meth and several pounds of heroin and cocaine.

These drugs destroy families and foster addiction in every corner of our country.

Those in custody now face serious charges including racketeering, kidnapping, and conspiracy to run illegal gambling rings.

Some defendants could face the death penalty or mandatory life sentences if convicted.

Wyatt Matters

Our safety depends on strong law enforcement to keep violent syndicates out of our communities. Families deserve to raise their children without organized crime threatening local neighborhoods and businesses.
