Sen. Fetterman Checks Himself into Hospital for Clinical Depression Treatment
ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY…
1885: Mark Twain publishes the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in the U.S.
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) checked himself into a hospital near Washington, D.C., seeking treatment for clinical depression, his chief of staff said in a statement.
Fetterman checked himself into Walter Reed Medical Center to receive treatment for clinical depression, the senator’s chief of staff Adam Jentleson said Thursday.
“While John has experienced depression off and on throughout his life, it only became severe in recent weeks,” Jentleson said.
Fetterman was “recommended inpatient care” and is “receiving treatment on a voluntary basis.”
“After examining John, the doctors at Walter Reed told us that John is getting the care he needs,” the statement concluded.
Fetterman was first elected to the Senate during last year’s midterm elections. He’s been facing health challenges, suffering a stroke in May — just a few days before the state’s primary election.
Last week, Fetterman was hospitalized after he started “feeling lightheaded” during a retreat for Senate Democrats. Doctors ran tests, ruling out another stroke and finding “no evidence of seizures.” The senator was discharged on Friday evening.
“What you’re supposed to do to recover from this is do as little as possible,” Jentleson told the New York Times last week. But Fetterman “was forced to do as much as possible — he had to get back to the campaign trail. It’s hard to claw back.”
Former Democratic Rep. Patrick Kennedy (RI), who retired from Congress in 2010, praised Fetterman for his honesty and decision to seek help.
“This is a moment for us to tear down the stigma of depression and anxiety,” Kennedy said. “Sen. Fetterman may do more for people just by admitting that he’s getting help for depression than any bill he ends up sponsoring.”

a glaring dichotomy. if your child suffers from depression they will be sent to a psychiatrist office. there is no way on earth to get inpatient help for your loved one unless they are involuntarily admitted. those of us who have worked in or through the system know this for a fact. but our overlords in washington merely have to say “duh, i don’t feel so good” and magically they are wisked away for tests and treatment…another piece of evidence for the level of corruption in washington.
he had to work well what they call work is a joke
and the ghoul never worked a day in his life for he sucked off of mommy and daddy
and now he’s going to suck off of the taxpayers the rest of his life
get the insane out have him resign
NOT FIT FOR SENATOR and wife grizzly can stop pushing him
Democrats care nothing about what they elect as long as it can keep them in power!!!!!! They have elected two vegetables to office to be controlled by the dnc and usher you into communism!!!!!
JUST GO AWAY ALREADY. You are doing a DISSERVICE to your CONSTITUENTS. SHAMEFUL! YOU DON’T DESERVE the position as you more than likely STOLE THE ELECTION ANYWAY!!
The man ran for office. The man won that office. The people of that state elected him to that office., knowing full well his health issues and background. Whatever the issue with John Fetterman – goes WITH the man and stays with the man. The people got what they deserve. Bad decision.
