January 1, Russia Doubles Down on Nuclear Option
ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY…
1882: German scientist Robert Koch discovers and describes the tubercle bacillus which causes tuberculosis (Mycobacterium tuberculosis), and establishes germ theory.
Dmitry Medvedev, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, said the U.S. is seeking “the end of our motherland,” adding that the tensions could lead to nuclear disaster.
Medvedev, who currently serves as deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, said that his country has been “the target of the same mediocre and primitive game” for the past 30 years.
“This means that Russia must be humiliated, limited, shaken, divided and destroyed,” Medvedev wrote on a Russian social media site.
“Now let’s imagine that America succeeded in this round of confrontation. The narrow-minded strategists from the White House caused a systemic political and economic crisis in Russia. They weakened and led to the split of a huge, very complex country. And here is the result: the largest nuclear power with an unstable political regime, weak leadership, a collapsed economy and the maximum number of nuclear warheads aimed at targets in the United States and Europe.”
Medvedev, who previously served as the country’s president and prime minister, blamed the US for tensions between NATO and Russia.
“Unlike the American establishment, which wants the end of our Motherland, Russia wants to see the United States as a strong and intelligent country, and not the last refuge of those who gradually fall into senile insanity,” he wrote.
The former president’s warning comes one day after a spokesperson for Putin refused to rule out the use of nuclear weapons.
“If it is an existential threat for our country, then it can be used,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told CNN.

(3:09) “a concept of domestic security. . . no other reasons.” And Christiane Amanpour can’t tell whether she got a full answer, (or just the acceptable to her one)? When 2 people, cities, countries, mutually threaten each other, NEITHER side can be held solely responsible. I DOUBT Amanpour relinquishes full responsibility to CNN when she confronts them about raising her 2 MILLION $/year salary. When all MSM has chosen the side of Ukraine against U.S., Russia, Belarus, etc. I fear a smoke and mirrors explosion to further conceal many relevant facts.
