Wyatt’s Take

  • HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. stood his ground during a tense budget hearing with Democrats.
  • The confrontation centered on his past comments about childhood medication and rural wellness farms.
  • Kennedy says his focus is on helping children escape dependency and promoting real healing.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. just stood his ground against a Democrat congresswoman during a heated budget hearing on Thursday.

The exchange turned into a shouting match when Democrats tried to twist Kennedy’s past comments regarding childhood medication and rural wellness farms.

Representative Terri Sewell grilled Kennedy over his 2024 comments about the overmedication of Black children and his use of the term reparented.

Kennedy fought back against the accusations, stating that the congresswoman was making up his remarks during the tense confrontation.

“I am absolutely not making this up,” Sewell shouted, while an aide held a poster board displaying Kennedy’s past quotes.

The Secretary’s original proposal involved creating free rural facilities where Americans could recover from drug dependency without screens or cellphones.

“And those kids are going to have a chance to go somewhere and get reparented — to live in a community where there’ll be no cellphones, no screens,” Kennedy previously said on a podcast.

HHS spokesmen clarified that the term refers to psychotherapy where young people learn emotional regulation and accountability that may have been missing in childhood.

Kennedy remains focused on the drug epidemic, targeting both illegal substances and legal psychiatric drugs known to induce violence in youth.
