Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has written to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Mark Milley seeking clarity on why drag queen shows and story hours are still being held on military bases. This follows both Austin’s and Milley’s testimonies that they do not support such events.

In his letter, Gaetz pointed to an upcoming “family-friendly” drag queen event at Nellis Air Force Base scheduled for June 1, stating, “this event is being advertised as having no minimum age requirement.” He asked whether this event had been reviewed and approved by either Austin or Milley, given their earlier testimonies before the House Armed Service Committee.

Furthermore, Gaetz questioned whether the base would provide funding for the event’s logistical support, why base commanders are facilitating such events despite their stated intentions, and if they would allow the event to proceed.

Gaetz has also demanded more information about the Navy’s drag queen ambassador, Yeoman 2nd Class Joshua Kelley, who identifies as “Harpy Daniels,” questioning whether any taxpayer funds have gone toward supporting the Navy’s ambassadorship program.

Gaetz requested responses to his questions and clarity on whether any punitive action has been or will be taken against individuals who facilitated drag events with taxpayer dollars by June 12, 2023.

Shame on the military! In 84 years I never thought I
would have to say that! In these uncertain times
with Biden in charge, we could be in a heap of
trouble with any number of hostile countries. How
would watching disgusting drag shows help our
    forces win in battle.
