January 1, Rand Paul Vows To Investigate Fauci if GOP Regains the Senate

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has vowed to “go after” Fauci if Republicans regain the Senate in the upcoming midterm elections.

Paul is set to become chairman of the Senate Health Committee if Republicans flip the chamber, as the committee’s current ranking member, Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), is retiring.

Paul’s promise came during an interview with conservative podcaster Lisa Boothe.

“If we win in November, if I’m chairman of a committee, if I have subpoena power, we’ll go after every one of [Fauci’s] records,” Paul said.

“We’ll have an investigator go through this piece-by-piece because we don’t need this to happen again.”

Paul has previously alleged that Fauci and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sent funding to a virology lab in Wuhan, China, which created a supervirus that can infect human cells.

He’s also pressed Fauci on the theory that the novel coronavirus was created in the Wuhan lab and then somehow escaped, either deliberately or by accident.

The virus’ origins are still unknown; there is evidence to suggest that there may have been a lab leak, while others say it was found in nature.
