Pennsylvania’s Republican-led House has voted to impeach Philadelphia’s Democratic prosecutor, citing his progressive policies amid rising crime in the city.
House lawmakers voted 107-85 to impeach District Attorney Larry Krasner, who now faces the state’s first Senate impeachment trial in nearly 30 years. The GOP holds a 29-21 majority in the Pennsylvania Senate. A two-third vote would be needed to convict and remove Krasner from office.
State House Republicans cited Krasner’s crime policies, including lenient sentences for criminal offenders, and failure to prosecute low-level offenses like drug possession and prostitution.
Krasner, who was re-elected last year, responded to the impeachment in a statement.
“In the hundreds of years the Commonwealth has existed, this is the only time the House has used the drastic remedy of impeachment of an elected official because they do not like their ideas,” Krasner said.
Krasner said House lawmakers “impeached me without presenting a single shred of evidence connecting our policies to any uptick in crime.”
“History will harshly judge this anti-democratic authoritarian effort to erase Philly’s votes – votes by Black, brown, and broke people in Philadelphia. And voters will have the last word,” he added.
Ahead of the vote, GOP State Representative Martina White said Krasner “has denied that there is even a crisis of crime happening on our streets.”
Lawmakers also alleged that Krasner had obstructed the House’s investigation of his office.

why would the republicans want to make philadelphia better? let the demoncratsrun their own areas. as long as they are just killing other demoncrats it isa win-win situation.

I think of the movie with Kirt Russell … Escape From New York. Where the law of the land was run by criminals, Mafia and Warlords. The innocent preyed upon and mocked. Evil runs with evil and let’s evil prevail.
When evil mocks everything our forefathers fought and died for and now is being labeled as “Racist”….
When parents are thrown into jail for standing up against evil being taught and brought into schools …
When the freedom of speech is condemned for some, but not for others ….
While we were sleeping, while we remained silent, evil slipped in and firmly planted itself in our midst, made itself look pretty to some, appealing to others, a justifiable cause for others, murder of the unborn as a health right …. evil has taken root.
And when the people of that city say enough is enough, there is enough evil to mock and condemn them for saying so.
The question is …. is it too late, will it really be as in the movie or can it be turned around? For the sake of the people and children, I hope so. When you fear going out to shop or work or school because of the evil that runs the streets, it’s on the verge of being too late. And like roaches, it takes a lot of fumigation to get rid of the little buggers.

ALL …..THE DEMOCRATS SHOULD BE “IMPEACHED”……THEN WE JUST MIGHT GET A BETTER GOVERNMENT GOING AGAIN – BUT, I DON’T GIVE MUCH CREDIT TO THE REPUBLICANS ANYMORE THESE DAYS, BECAUSE THEY DON’T DO ENOUGH TO BRING THE HAMMER DOWN ON THE DEMOCRATS. ! ! ! ! SO REALLY – THE DEMOCRATS ARE THE WORST….BUT, THE REPUBLICANS AREN’T FAR BEHIND THE PATHETIC AND MISERABLE DEMOCRATS…….. OUR COUNTRY IS LOST AND NOT SURE THE REPUBLICANS CAN PULL IT BACK TOGETHER……..MOST AMERICANS ARE JUST DISILLUSIONED ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT THAT IS TRYING TO RUN THIS COUNTRY. NOT SURE THERE WILL BE A DAY WHEN – AMREICA IS GREAT AGAIN……..RIGHT NOW IT IS S * * T MESS. ! ! !

I’d like to be able to impeach every single state legislator (all Democrats) in my miserable state of New York who had anything to do with limiting sentencing on such heinous crimes as child molestation! A local high school principal here was given a sentence of 63 years for molesting 21 children at an elementary school but was limited to only 20 years by a ridiculous law recently passed by our liberal, Democrat controlled legislature. Absolutely disgusting! I hope the inmates give him the justice he deserves!
