January 1, Pence Takes Thinly-Veiled Shots at Trump

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY…
1962: Cuban Missile Crisis – U.S. President John F. Kennedy addresses TV about Russian missile bases in Cuba and imposes a naval blockade on Cuba, beginning the missile crisis.

Former Vice President Mike Pence took several thinly-veiled jabs at former President Donald Trump during a speech this week, according to The Hill.

“Conservatism is bigger than any one moment, any one election, any one person. It’s about ideas,” Pence said.

Pence delivered remarks at The Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., wherein he warned conservatives against being “led astray by the siren song of unprincipled populism.”

“Our movement cannot forsake the foundational commitment that we have to security, to limited government, to liberty and to life,” he said. “But nor can we allow our movement to be led astray by the siren song of unprincipled populism that’s unmoored from our oldest traditions and most cherished values.”

“Let me say: This movement and the party that it animates must remain the movement of a strong national defense, limited government and traditional moral values and life,” Pence added.

The former vice president, who is believed to be laying the groundwork for a potential bid in the 2024 presidential election, said that conservatives “must do more than simply criticize and complain.”

“We must unite around a bold and optimistic agenda. And that was how the freedom agenda was born,” Pence said.

When asked on Wednesday if he’d potentially vote for Trump in 2024, Pence said: “Well, there might be somebody else I prefer more.”

“What I can tell you is I have every confidence that the Republican Party is going to sort out leadership, all my focus has been on the midterm elections and it’ll stay that way for the next 20 days,” he said. “But after that, we’ll be thinking about the future — ours and the nation’s — and I’ll keep you posted.”

Pence could have recused himself from the election certification process. But he decided to just say it was his constitutional obligation? He could have stated he did not agree with the election results and walk out in support of his President. That would have been the honorable response:action. They would have opted to Senate leader according to constitution.

If Pence’s comments were an attempt to unite the REP Party, he did just the opposite. The REPs should have as its main goal to take back both houses of Congress…that’s all! Posturing about 2024 is meaningless at this point in our country. We as Americans, if you still value our freedom, should be hell-bent on limiting the damage by the current administration and voting RED in Nov.

Mike Pence is the poster boy of politicians. They smile at you and the first time its not in their interest out comes the knife. Unfortunately, we know who he is and what his abilities are when it comes to confronting the tough issues we have worldwide to deal with and he is too much of a weakling to stare them down. That skill is what he calls popularism. I call it guts and he has none of that.

Pence is the kind of politician who if he shakes your hand, count your fingers afterwards.

Pence is NOT near the Christian he has claimed to be. I think he has been paid big money by an EVIL Dem to go with them. I would NEVER trust anything he says again.C

I don’t trust the guy. period. he is a shuck and jive fellow. says what he thinks you want to hear. has no backbone. someone should look deeply into his closet. I know there may be some sordid things there. we dont need his type running this country. first time he runs into opposition he will fold like the cheap suit.

There’s two types of Republicans. One type wants the status quo. The other one wants to clean up the corruption. We all know Pence is a status quo guy.
