Pelosi criticized for repeating Biden’s claim that $3.5T plan costs ‘zero’ dollars
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) became the subject of criticism for repeating President Biden’s highly contested claim that the $3.5 trillion Build Back Better plan will cost “zero” dollars.
“It’s not about a dollar amount,” Pelosi said. “The dollar amount, as the president said, is zero. This bill will be paid for.”
The reconciliation package is a hot-button issue as of late, with some within the Democratic party raising concerns about the costs. Biden recently raised eyebrows by tweeting, “My Build Back Better Agenda costs zero dollars.”
“If she really thinks her $3.5 trillion plan ‘costs zero dollars,’ she’s as delusional as President Biden,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) tweeted.
“Nothing is free, and anyone telling you something is free is trying to sell you something else,” wrote Brandon Morse, editor of the conservative website RedState.
