Local leaders spent over a year pitching the region to international teams.
They focused on showing off the community and elite athletic facilities.
“We started actually over a year ago with countries beginning to visit,”
said Alan Dietrich.
The team will use the Compass Minerals National Performance Center in Kansas City.
This complex features professional fields and elite recovery spaces for the players.
“If they’ve traveled a lot and they’re tired, they can come in here, turn the lights out and get a nice nap,”
Dietrich added.
The 2026 tournament will be the largest in history with 48 teams competing.
Kansas City is preparing for a massive surge in tourism and global visibility.
“When Argentina visited, they really loved it here,”
Dietrich said.
“They loved our facilities, they loved our people.”
