January 1, Authorities Dismantle Cargo Theft Ring in Southern California

Wyatt’s Take
- Detectives seized $7 million in stolen goods and cash.
- Thieves targeted major retailers and supply chain deliveries.
- Nine suspects now face charges including grand theft and money laundering.
California law enforcement finally took a bite out of the organized crime rings terrorizing supply lines. Detectives seized $7 million in stolen goods and a pile of cash after hitting thirteen different locations across the state.
- Thieves targeted thirty-six major companies including Costco, Amazon, and Dollar General.
- Police recovered everything from kitchen appliances and tools to ATVs and basic groceries.
- Nine suspects now face serious charges for grand theft and money laundering.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that the arrests followed a months-long investigation into organized cargo theft. Detectives served warrants in Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties to recover the massive haul.
The recovered items included TVs, printers, air conditioners, and even plush toys meant for store shelves. Officials say the stolen freight belonged to major retailers that Middle Americans rely on every day.
The suspects are facing charges including grand theft cargo, money laundering and receiving stolen property.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the nine individuals taken into custody. This task force was specifically created last year to fight the surge in retail crime hitting the West Coast.
Wyatt Matters
Our economy cannot function when criminals treat delivery trucks like a free buffet. When billions in merchandise vanish, hard-working families in the heartland are the ones who pay the price through higher costs and empty shelves.
