January 1, Open-Border Policies Are Fueling Dangerous Networks

As the Biden administration and its Democratic allies continue to endorse open-border policies, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued a stark warning about the potential security threats posed by such a lax approach. FBI Director Christopher Wray recently revealed that the current state of the U.S. southern border has led to several “very dangerous threats” to our national security, including a smuggling network with direct links to the infamous terror group ISIS.

The rise of ISIS was a significant issue during the Obama administration, with the group expanding its reach across the Middle East and Africa, and even orchestrating attacks on American soil. The Trump administration made significant strides in dismantling this terrorist organization, but under Biden’s leadership, the group appears to be resurging.

Wray stated, “From an FBI perspective, we are seeing a wide array of very dangerous threats that emanate from the border. And that includes everything from drug trafficking — the FBI alone seized enough fentanyl in the last two years to kill 270 million people — that’s just on the fentanyl side.”

Adding to this, Wray noted that a significant portion of violent crime in the United States is perpetrated by gangs involved in the distribution of these drugs.

In response to a question from Republican Sen. Marco Rubio about the smuggling networks and their connections to terrorist organizations, Wray provided details about one specific network that is causing significant concern.

“So, I want to be a little bit careful how far I can go in open session, but there is a particular network that, where some of the overseas facilitators of the smuggling network have ISIS ties that we’re very concerned about and that we’ve been spending enormous amount of effort with our partners investigating,” Wray said.

He further added, “Exactly what that network is up to is something that’s, again, the subject of our current investigation.”

The FBI, which has recently been more focused on pursuing the political adversaries of the Biden administration, now finds itself playing catch-up as terrorists exploit our southern border to potentially prepare for large-scale attacks against the American people.

This is yet another example of how Biden’s misguided policies have left Americans vulnerable. We’ve seen this in the form of gang violence, such as the tragic case of Georgia student Laken Riley, who was murdered by a Venezuelan gang member who had entered the country illegally.

Despite the FBI’s admission of the severe risks posed by our southern border, President Biden continues to demonstrate a lack of concern for implementing any changes.

As we approach the potential end of Biden’s presidency, we can anticipate these issues worsening. In fiscal year 2023, there were more than 2.4 million recorded migrant encounters. However, in fiscal year 2024, we’ve already witnessed a record-breaking month with over 300,000 encounters!

Biden has the power to halt this crisis, but instead, he appears content to allow terrorist organizations to exploit his policies and increase their presence in America.
