Former NFL star Willie McGinest was arrested on a felony assault charge, authorities said.
The former Patriots linebacker turned himself into Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office in West Hollywood on Monday morning, a spokesperson said.
After providing a statement to authorities, the three-time Super Bowl champion was subsequently arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
According to investigators, witnesses accused McGinest of being involved in an assault that occurred at a nightclub on Dec. 9.
McGinest’s bail was set at $30,000. He posted bond and was released after a couple of hours.
The former NFL star played 12 seasons with the New England Patriots. He was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2015.

One of the major reasons I no longer watch NFL.’ Is because too many of them are wife beaters, druggies, thugs and malcontents not worth the price of a ticket. One day the NFL will wake up along with those people who pay the outrages prices they pay to see the boys play a game.

This is just one of the many reasons I no longer watch pro football. Too many of the players are wife beaters, druggies, thugs and malcontents. They get paid way too much and to many think they are above the law and the rest of us. The price of a ticket to see these malcontents to play is more than any game is worth it. The teams care nothing about the people who pay the overprice tickets and are making fools of those who do.
