January 1, New Memos Raise Alarms On China Ties
Wyatt’s Take
- Federal agencies raised red flags over Tim Walz’s connections with Communist China.
- The Biden administration tried to keep these warnings hidden from the public.
- Homeland Security and FBI both looked into Walz’s long history with Chinese officials.
New memos just released confirm what folks in the heartland have been saying for ages—our federal government is worried about Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and his cozy relationship with the Chinese Communist Party. These Homeland Security documents show the agencies didn’t just have a passing concern. They had serious doubts, especially after Kamala Harris picked Walz as her running mate for vice president.
The documents, handed over to Judicial Watch after a big legal fight, reveal inside chatter among officials. One employee bluntly said, “China is happy” in a group chat just after Walz was chosen for the Democratic ticket. That’s a red flag if I’ve ever seen one. They were tracking positive reactions on Chinese internet, signaling Beijing was thrilled with the pick.
Another agent suggested the FBI should get involved, saying, “[W]ith FBI mission in the CI field i [sic] believe they need to get included.” This wasn’t just one department who felt uneasy. Investigators focused on how China tries to build influence below the federal level in America, and Walz’s history set off alarms.
Federal worries didn’t pop up overnight. Walz’s warm ties with China go back decades. For years, he’s had glowing reviews for China’s system—”everyone is the same and everyone shares,” he once told a Nebraska newspaper. He praised how doctors and construction workers in China get the same pay and benefits from the communist state. He even welcomed Communist Party officials into his classroom when he was a high school teacher in Nebraska, putting them in front of American kids.
Walz organized dozens of school trips to China paid for in part by the Chinese government. Congressional investigators noted he racked up about 30 trips since the early 1990s. That’s not just a curiosity—it’s long-term exposure and influence. Reports say he often painted a rosier picture of China than the truth—instead of warning about the dangers of communism, he praised their so-called equality.
Republicans and watchdogs are now demanding answers. When the House Oversight Committee, led by James Comer, tried to get documents about Walz’s relationship with the CCP, the Biden administration dragged its feet. Comer had to subpoena the Department of Homeland Security just to start getting answers. As Comer spelled out, “If a state governor and major political party’s nominee for Vice President… has been a witting or unwitting participant in the CCP’s efforts to weaken our nation, this would strongly suggest that there are alarming weaknesses in the federal government’s effort to defend the United States from the CCP’s political warfare that must be urgently addressed.”
When the agencies kept stonewalling, Comer released a snippet of their messages, showing real worry inside government about Walz and how China could use him to slip influence into Washington. “Walt’s [sic] got the Vp. You all have no idea how this feeds into what the prc [China] has been doing here with him and local gov,” one message noted. It’s clear they believe China’s playbook is to target officials like Walz for “elite capture”—building up connections and influence until it’s too late.
Even the FBI seemed to have a file on Walz, with one agent saying, “Good to know and yes there involvement [sic] with HSI and fbi on things here.” Still, the Biden administration refused to hand over everything, raising even more questions about who is being protected and why.
Recently, Walz continued giving China a pass, saying the communist country “might be the [one with] moral authority” to broker peace in the Middle East after the Israel-Iran conflict. When asked about his claims of being in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square massacre, Walz couldn’t give a straight answer.
Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, praised Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for finally releasing the documents that Biden officials wanted to keep under wraps. “This is every bit as important as the Russiagate disclosures. The Biden gang obviously covered this all up to try to help rig the election,” Fitton said.
As the presidential campaign heated up, these warnings about CCP influence got buried beneath campaign chatter, but the evidence keeps stacking up. The heartland has every right to demand honesty and protection from foreign enemies looking to influence our way of life.
Wyatt Matters
When America’s leaders cozy up to the Chinese Communist Party, working people in towns and farms across this nation pay the price. We can’t afford to turn a blind eye to leaders willing to praise a regime opposed to freedom, faith, and everything our country stands for. Middle America needs folks in charge who put the interests of American families ahead of global elites and communist governments. It’s time we hold our leaders accountable before we lose what makes us free.
