January 1, NBA players who refuse vaccine risk millions
NBA players who refuse to receive the COVID-19 vaccination risk losing millions of dollars, the league confirmed.
“Any player who elects not to comply with local vaccination mandates will not be paid for games that he misses,” said Mike Bass, executive vice president of communications for the NBA.
Roughly 90 percent of NBA players are vaccinated — a rate much higher than the overall US population.
The organization does not mandate vaccines for its players, but local ordinances in some cities bar unvaccinated individuals from places like indoor sports areas. So, unvaccinated players in cities like New York or San Francisco would be unable to participate in home games.
