Elon Musk caused a commotion after calling for Anthony Fauci to be prosecuted in a tweet, writing: “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci.”
Musk’s concise tweet garnered more than a million likes on the platform.
“I affirm your pronouns Elon,” tweeted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) in response.
But not everyone appreciated the sentiment, including some of those within the medical community.
“This is antithetical to what we stand for, insulting science, infectious disease, and people with trans/nonbinary identities who suffer from enough stigma,” tweeted Emory University’s Division of Infectious Diseases, urging other ID programs to leave Twitter if Musk doesn’t delete the post.
Kent State Epidemiology Professor Tara Smith tweeted: “Hey @TwitterSafety what happens when the owner of the platform is tweeting to get a scientist harassed or killed?”
Former NASA astronaut Scott Kelly responded to Musk, asking him to not “mock and promote hate toward already marginalized and at-risk-of-violence members” of the LGBTQ+ community.”
Musk responded, writing: I strongly disagree. Forcing your pronouns upon others when they didn’t ask, and implicitly ostracizing those who don’t, is neither good nor kind to anyone.”
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed Musk’s tweets during a press briefing on Monday, condemning the posts as “incredibly dangerous.”
Musk’s “personal attacks … are disgusting and they are divorced from reality, and we will continue to call that out and be very clear about that,” Jean-Pierre said.
“We are fortunate that he has devoted his career and his life and his exceptional talent to America’s public health,” she added.
Musk’s tweet came the morning after Stanford’s Dr. Jay Bhattacharya visited the Twitter headquarters. One of the installments of the “Twitter Files” revealed that Bhattacharya was previously placed on a “Trends Blacklist,” limiting the reach of his posts, after he warned that COVID-19 lockdowns would be harmful to children.

The people calling for companies to leave Twitter if Mr. Musk doesn’t take down that post are the same people that thought taking away free speech from the sitting president of the United States was a reasonable action! Funding gain of function research with taxpayer money and then lying to all of America with a straight face while standing right next to our President.
