Misspelled Highway Sign Points Resident in Wrong Direction
Michigan road workers installed multiple signs with notable typos on I-96, changing the name of the state’s second-largest city to “Grand Radips.”
In addition to the misspelling of Grand Rapids, multiple signs also incorrectly labeled Coopersville as “Cooperville.”
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) said that it wasn’t a late April Fool’s Day joke, but the result of a human error.
“It’s an error. It’s an unfortunate error,” MDOT spokesperson Nick Schirripa said, calling it a teachable moment.
