January 1, Mike Pence’s Pathetic Presidential Run

Published

on

If you had no idea about politics, former Vice President Mike Pence would seem on paper to have an easy road to the White House. With a decade of experience in the House, a term as Indiana’s governor, and a tenure as Vice President, Pence boasts a resume that, screams presidential material. Of course, we know better.

Pence finds himself in a political Catch-22, caught between the accomplishments he achieved under the Trump administration and the need to distance himself from the same administration due to his massive unpopularity with Trump’s base.

This dilemma was quite apparent at a recent GOP gathering in Iowa. Here, Pence, along with other Republican candidates, managed to tout the achievements of the Trump era without mentioning the former President’s name even once.

The need for this delicate dance stems from a couple of factors. One, Trump, despite his non-participation in the event, is the leading candidate in Iowa. Hence, any praise directed towards him could be construed as supporting the competition. Two, any criticism of Trump could risk alienating the significant voter base still supportive of the former President. As if Pence had any shot at convincing Trump supporters to give him the time of day.

According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, Pence lags not only Trump, who leads by 50 points, but also other prominent candidates like Ron DeSantis, trailing by nearly 20 points. As it stands, Pence’s 2024 presidential run is off to a challenging start. Some may suggest Pence shouldn’t even waste his time announcing. He doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell.

I feel he was bought by Pelosi, I could see the change in him with Pelosi, while they were still in DC. I think the Demonrats would do that to get a person to turn on their boss.

Yes. I too believe he was bought. Not necessarily by Pelosi but by the dems in general. I think they had him throw the 2020 election in exchange for 2024. If they could make it happen for Biden they could arrange it for pence as well.
