January 1, Media Downplays Deadly Drug Crisis Again
Wyatt’s Take
- The media treats America’s fentanyl nightmare like it’s no big deal.
- Big voices question Trump’s authority but ignore the real threat pouring over the border.
- Too many elites seem more upset by tough action than by American families suffering.
It’s normal to debate if the president should send the military after traffickers. But let’s not pretend that’s all that matters when thousands die each year from illegal drugs.
The press acts shocked when Trump calls out the cartels or tries new ways to fight back. Instead of focusing on the devastation these drugs cause, certain reporters obsess over paperwork and authority.
“After breaking new ground by labeling drug cartels as ‘terrorists,’ the president is now redefining the peacetime criminal problem of drug trafficking as an armed conflict, and telling the U.S. military to treat even suspected low-level drug smugglers as combatants,” wrote a major news analyst. “But the trafficking of an illegal consumer product is not a capital offense, and Congress has not authorized armed conflict against cartels.”
The problem isn’t recreational drugs or minor vices—fentanyl and other substances are killing Americans in shocking numbers. Most of these deadly products come from outside our borders, and there’s reason to believe some foreign governments allow it.
This isn’t just about breaking the law. Our communities are losing loved ones, day after day, to drugs far more dangerous than anything politicians or journalists want to talk about.
Remember, George Floyd had lethal fentanyl in his system when he died in 2020—a fact that gets ignored too often in these debates.
Instead of honest talk about why tough measures are even needed, the media would rather paint efforts to stop these cartels as overreach. That doesn’t protect American families, but it sure helps people far from the pain.
If you want leaders to care about your family’s safety, keep speaking out and stay informed—don’t let big city media rewrite what’s really going on.
Wyatt Matters
Americans in the heartland value strong families and safe communities. We deserve leaders who treat the drug crisis like the emergency it is, not as a debate topic or a footnote. Protecting our neighborhoods from dangerous substances should come before politics or media spin.
