January 1, Media Downplay Democrat Shutdown Blunder

Wyatt’s Take

  • The media usually blames Republicans for shutdowns, but this time they’re quiet.
  • Democrats are responsible, refusing to fund the government over issues tied to illegal immigration and welfare subsidies.
  • This ‘lowkey’ shutdown shows the double standard folks in Middle America see every day.

When Washington shuts down, most folks outside D.C. hardly notice, but the media usually tries to scare everyone and blame conservatives.

This time, even the media’s own insiders admit it’s “lowkey.” That’s because the fault falls on Democrats for holding out on a budget to make a political point and give more handouts that also benefit noncitizens.

Normally, stories flood the news about missed Social Security checks and Republicans being heartless. Now, barely a mention of that line—because both sides admit there’s a funding issue on programs, and the media isn’t asking tough questions about why money’s running out.

Democrats claim they’re holding out for health care subsidies, but what they really want is to show off that they’re going after Trump and backing more government spending—much of it for those here illegally.

The GOP has no reason to go along. This shutdown happened because Democrats wanted a fight, not a fair deal. Even their leaders seem lost on what the end game is. The media sees it too, that’s why this shutdown isn’t making headlines.

If you’re tired of political posturing leaving everyday people out, keep speaking up and demand accountability from both parties.
